CONVEX SHAPE FOR AXIALLY FEEDING, MADE FROM HI-COBALT MATERIAL WITH "EXTENDED WEAR" COATING. CONVEX SHAPED KNURLS SUPERIOR IN FINISH AND DIE LIFE ON KNURLING PATTERNS ALONG THE AXIS OF PARTS.
Convex-Axial Feeding knurls greatly improved the
ability of CNC lathe operators to produce quality knurled parts on their
machines. All convex dies are made from hi-cobalt steel and have a "EXTENDED
WEAR"
coating. The unique full form radiused edges of the wheels significantly reduce
the knurling forces in both the "X" and "Z" axis compared to using a
standard knurl with a chamfer on the edges. Also, because of the smaller surface
area on first contact, these tools normally penetrate deeper into the workpiece
on the very first revolution which tends to reduce "double tracking" problems
typically results in longer tool life, better looking parts and higher
productivity.
Remember that this type knurling wheel is designed only for axially feeding to
produce a knurl length that is wider than the wheel being used. If the diameter
of the part is less than 1/2", we would normally recommend using a straddle type
two die holder. For work 3/4" and larger, a single or two die bump should be
suitable.
